Moray & Salineras.

A day trip to the Moray and Salineras de Moras to learn about traditional Peruvian agriculture. The Moray, bowl shaped concentric terraces that resemble a Roman amphitheater, was speculatively used for an agricultural experimental center.. It’s the various microclimates at each level we have to thank for over 3,500 different kinds of potatoes Peru produces. Next we’ll view the salt pools of the Salineras, which have been used for salt extraction since the Incan times.
Includes: Transportation and tickets to both archaeological sites.

Ollantaytambo.

We’ll take a half day visit to our neighboring village, Ollantaytambo, to view one of the last major military strongholds of the Inca Empire against Spanish invasions. This archaeological site was originally built for religious worship, with ceremonial and celestial centers centered around the Temple of the Sun. Eventually it turned into a fortress for King Inca Manco and his soldiers. After all of those stairs, we’ll head for a well deserved lunch in town.
Includes: Transportation and tickets to the archaeological site.
